A Dialogue Mechanism and Municipal Ordinances for solid waste management is established in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

July 11, 2024 | As a result of the joint efforts of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF Mesoamerica), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Fundación Cervecería Hondureña and the Reciclar para Crecer project, a Letter of Understanding was signed in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, to establish the Dialogue Mechanism for the Integrated Solid Waste Management Support Board (MAGIRSA, per its acronym in Spanish).
 
The Letter of Understanding was developed through a collective process and a constructive collaboration space, which will enable progress towards integrated solid waste management, promote a culture of recycling and implement actions based on circular economy, in alliance with the Municipality of San Pedro Sula.
 
This process is being carried out with representatives from the public sector, such as the Environmental Department of San Pedro Sula, and the Secretariat of Natural Resources and Environment, as well as the private sector, with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cortés, Diunsa, RECYPROCO, Recycle Honduras, Desechos Especializados de Honduras S.A., Grupo Vical, Invema, Colegio de Profesionales Forestales de Honduras (COLPROFORH), Sulambiente and Fundación Cervecería Hondureña de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial (FUNDAHRSE).
 
This agreement symbolizes the starting point to continue with the elaboration of a roadmap for future actions
