As part of the "Together for Environmental Governance" project developed in Honduras through WWF Mesoamerica's regional office, a meeting was held with representatives of the SANSONE Sawmill. During this meeting, activities aimed at strengthening forest sector governance in the country were coordinated.
These efforts are being made as part of the integration of companies, academia and agroforestry groups for the support and complementary actions related to preventing and combating forest fires, wildlife and illegal logging.
"Together for Environmental Governance" team, along with representatives of the University of Forest Sciences (UNACIFOR, for its Spanish acronym), identified several complementary areas of work that complement the project's focus areas.
The agreements included a Memorandum of Understanding with SANSONE, academia and the Honduran Federation of Agroforestry Cooperatives (FEHCAFOR, for its Spanish acronym) to strengthen collaboration and promote a multi-stakeholder platform for forest governance in Honduras.
This activity responds to a process that will continue with a collaboration of different actors in the country's forestry sector to improve its governance.
